Students should always have free parking on campus. Not only do students have to worry about affording tuition, but a parking pass at Southern University is $45. I’m not speaking for everyone when I say I am a broke college student at heart. Between having a parking pass to still getting tickets for parking everywhere, it is truly a task. I understand why we have the parking pass, but what I don’t understand is why we must pay $45 and can’t park anywhere. Usually, there are parking lots that is next to my classes, and most buildings, which are useless, because I will get ticketed for parking there. One should never have to park as far as I do, to get to class. This is more than a hindrance to our handicapped students on campus, especially when there is limited parking. If students are still going to get tickets regardless of the parking pass, or not then there was no point in buying it to begin with. Not only do students pay a large amount for tuition costs, but parking passes and tickets are a challenge to get rid of. It should at least be included in the tuition cost considering students have to pay anyway. That could be more reasonable especially when it comes to some people who can’t afford to get the pass immediately. At the end of the day, many students have jobs and are full-time college attendees, but it would be more than appreciated to receive a little leniency here and there, especially when it comes to wrong-zone parking. Students deserve to park for free and attend classes without having to walk from a parking lot on the opposite side of campus.
