On Monday, October 16th at 5 p.m., Aramark hosted a workshop in Stewart Hall Auditorium. The purpose of this event was to give a few tips on how students can develop professional development skills and improvement. During the workshop, there were refreshments, fun games, safety tips, and learning about embracing responsibility to other people. The guest speakers of the event wanted to help the student body by creating positive change and helping the students with professional development with the amount of career opportunities that they have. Aramark benefits include covering students’ full tuition at no cost because they believe financial barriers should never stop students from getting the education they’ve always wanted and providing tuition reimbursement for their salaried employees through the Educational Assistance Program. Digest asked Aramark, “If students wanted to continue their education and be a part of Aramark, what are some benefits and compensation that some students can look forward to?” They have provided Education Assistance, an Employee Recognition Program, Service Awards for Career Milestones, Adoption Assistance, Maternity Leave, Parental Leave and Commuter Benefits. They offer their Frontline Education Program with eligibility to gain full tuition coverage to earn an undergraduate degree from a top-tier university. A career in food facilities and uniform services should empower those to become the best they can be and provide a supportive team that helps along the way. No matter what you’re pursuing, a new challenge, a sense of belonging, or just a better job, their focus is helping them reach their full potential. The goal is to give the student body peace of mind and offer unique internships and early career opportunities that would be able to provide valuable hands-on growth, mentorship from industry leaders, and a variety of work environments. The total rewards program reflects their commitment to providing a sense of security for the student body and their families. Speaker for Aramark, General Manager at Schreiner University, Charles Liddell stated, “Aramark is a diner service that wants to make sure that they create an outreach providing extra services to help those because they love to find new ways to go beyond what’s expected.” Throughout the entire event, everyone, including Aramark guest speakers, played one game of Cultural Bingo, taking the time to get to know others and improving students’ communication skills. Junior, Culinary and Food Management major, Sydney Taylor, a student who was engaging in the fun activities says, “I plan to join Aramark as a part-time Culinary, which falls right into her category, because it would help me build my resume a lot better and become a part of the Aramark society to get a feel of how everything works.” Sophomore, Business Management major, Mariah Anderson, plans to apply for a position to be a part of Aramark company, learned from this event that gaining better communication skills and getting over her fears to socialize with one another can help her build the strength and confidence to gain connections that could help her towards the future.
