With the release of Metro Boomin and Future’s new album, the topic of Drake’s standing in the hip hop community is more prevalent than ever. Over the past few months, the rapper has had several shots taken at him from all sides of hip hop. Not only with the recent diss coming from the team of Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Metro Boomin on their new collaboration ‘Like That’ it truly seems to be Drake vs. the hip hop industry
Houston rapper Megan Thee Stallion recently dissed Drake on her new hit song ‘Hiss” as she took shots at the rapper through vicious bars as she implied that he is suffering from a serious case of imposter syndrome as she labeled him as a ‘Cosplay gangster.’. Rapper Kanye West also came out on March 11th, to say “F-You” to the Canadian superstar as he blames the rapper for scooping up his fellow Chicago rapper Lil Durk while West was attempting to rollout his album.
Through all this tension the hip hop community as well as fans are curious to see what Drake’s response to these several disses will be. Considering not only the rappers current rap beefs it is also important to consider others such as his war of lyrics with rapper Pusha T, which ultimately led to the revealing of Drake’s son of Adonis.
When factoring in the many instances that Drake has found himself in, it begs the bigger question of who is truly on his side, as it appears to be Drake vs. everybody. Though it does appear that Drake may have the assistance of rappers such as J. Cole and 21 Savage, it begs the question if that will be enough for the Civil War of hip hop.
Fans and critics are patiently awaiting the response of the rapper as many are wondering if this may be the downfall of Drake as many feel that he cannot outrap someone as detrimental to the hip hop industry as Kendrick Lamar. It will be not only interesting to see how this will play out, but also provide extremely great music for fans of the hip hop community all over.
