JUST ASKING: 21 Anonymous Questions SGA EDITION

21 Questions is an anonymous question forum aimed at getting meaningful, UNFILTERED conversations started across Southern University’s campus. This issue is addressing Student Leadership within SGA by result of the upcoming elections.
1). Why do you (anyone running) want this position and how do you plan to use it to help the student out or is this just a popularity contest for you?
2). Be honest , are y’all in it for the clout?
3). How come it’s always the same people and no one new ever passes the test?
4). Can someone address the new union they raised fees[funds] for?
5). What’s the process of verifying the candidates and elections and how are we sure we can trust the results?
6). Why is the debate the same night as the Queen’s pageant? I feel like that takes away from the platforms.
7). Instead of focusing on events and homecoming, can we get people in office who are concerned about the issues on the campus?
8). Nothing was really said about the Shade situation… whoever wins, can we try to get more adequate housing?
9). Why is there no Mr. Southern or men on the royal court though multiple HBCUs have that representation?
10).What really goes on in these offices upstairs!?
11). Why is it only 2 candidates or unopposed for each role?
12). Mental Health day was really well executed but why was it only 4 hours?
13). Why are campaign visuals more treasured than the actual message that the candidates has to say.
14). With the recent legislation in Mississippi regarding HBCUs, what will you (the candidates) do to combat that happening at our own beloved HBCU?
15). What is the biggest problem you feel is facing southern students and if elected what will you do to combat these issues?
16). To the class presidents, what will you do to ensure that retention rates remain steady throughout your time serving
17). After 10 o’clock there’s nothing on campus for students to eat. Is there any way we can get get a 24 hour option like grambling has?
18). What positive changes can we expect to see implemented?
19). What are you / y’all going to do about making the campus feel more welcomed to the shy students ? Also WE NEED MORE EVENTS ! Ask students what they want to see around campus !
20). What’s the point of these positions if year after year no changes are being made?!?!
21.) Why did a candidate show up 45 minutes late to the required session and was somehow allowed in?
