Welcome to the Bluff:A Magical Ride

Here at Southern University we pride ourselves with being THEE Standard even all the way down to something as simple as “Welcome Back Week”. This years theme was Jagnik. Not only did the week welcome incoming freshman and upperclassmen back to the bluff, but it also gave Jags a feel of the 90s Freaknik! Jagnik allowed students to get the true feel of the HBCU culture here at Southern University.
The week was full of events from Trap Bingo all the way to Fan Fest on Saturday. Everyday the SGA had something exciting for the student body planned. On Monday , August 15th at 7:00 pm the Magician & Hypnotic show kicked off the week in the F.G Clark Activity Center as students were thrilled by the magical talent!
Speaking with sophomore nursing major, Yakyra Parker, she exclaims that, the show was not what I expected, but I loved it…” Yakyra then goes on about how it left her, “confused and questioning ‘how is this possible?”. Although Yakyra was left a little on edge, she was thrilled by the show and wishes to see many more!
Much like Yakyra, sophomore, business major, Samir La’Neair found the show exciting. La’Neair says very eagerly “I think it’s cool how the magician can make us hallucinate”. Samir continues to go on about how the magician had him “ in shock, because I didn’t believe it was real until I watched a girl stand up on stage and sleep the whole performance”.
The event that seemed to have a lot of misconceptions at first turned out to be an event that Jags will be looking forward to for future events. The week as a whole created unforgettable memories that the students will go on to share about in the future!
