Southern University’s football team is in a very unpleasing spot right now. Sitting at 1-7, with the Southern university Jags winning only against the Mississippi Valley State Devils, it’s very noticeable that something deeper is wrong. This isn’t just about the offense not being able to score points, but it’s the overall full team problem. The whole team including the coaches, Offense, and Defense Should partake in this responsibility. The lack of consistency, disciplinary action and preparation shows every week when we play our opponents. A winning program needs good team leaders and leadership that acts hard upon accountability, pushes for improvement, and refuses to accept ordinariness. Right now, we really don’t have that. We need a coach who stays on top of every detail and who can lead, teach, and bring out the best in each and every player. It’s not just about drawing up plays, but it’s about setting a standard. Which The fans and players deserve better than what’s being shown on the field. Until we fix the culture and leadership from the top, no amount of talent will make a difference. It’s time for real change, not excuses because this team, and this school, deserve to win again. The solution to turning this season around with 4 games left in the season starts with accountability and leadership. We need the coaching staff to try their best and stay in ears of players to motivate them to become better, make good and strategic adjustments during games, and hold everyone from the starters to the backups responsible for their effort from practices to gameday. The first step is creating a culture where preparation, discipline, and energy are non-negotiable. Practices should be more focused. On the field, simplifying the playbook might help both offense and defense play faster and with more confidence. Instead of overcomplicating strategies, focus on mastering the basics tackling, blocking, and finishing drives. Finally, the program must emphasize accountability, leadership, and pride in representing the school. If everyone commits to that standard, wins will follow. The drought can end, but only when the team and coaches decide to change together.
