The F.G. Clark Activity Center was buzzing with excitement on Tuesday, October 14, as the 2025 Homecoming Concert took center stage. The event featured Snug, Treety, H3adband, Pluto, NoCap, T99zy, Pookielean, and headlined by Mariah The Scientist, with special guest performances by T99zy and Pookielean adding to the celebration.
The concert was hosted by Southern University hype man Dielit and DJ Neff. Starting at around 7pm, Snug came out to start the show. Next was a special appearance from T99zy. Afterwards, Southern University Alumna Treety came out to perform some of her hit songs. After Treety, a special guest appearance was made by Pookielean singing her popular song Pookie Lean. After Pookielean, H3adband came for a 30 minute show followed by Pluto. After Pluto, a brief intermission was held with DJ Neff and Dielit. Next was NoCap with an almost 1 hour show.
Finally, DJ Neff switched the vibe and transitioned from Hip Hop to R&B to set the scene for headliner Mariah The Scientist. Sophomore Siniaya Harvey states, “I really liked the switch up to the R&B vibe after NoCap. I wasn’t all too interested in the rap part, but I went to the concert anyways for my best friend, It gave a good contrast to the concert and I really liked it.”
Mariah The Scientist hit the stage at around 10:15pm. “Outside of her beauty, I think Mariah is one of the most talented R&B artists of our generation. You can tell she loves her craft and dedication for music especially when you hear her live. I really don’t care for all the drama going on in her personal life because at the end of the day we’re all human, And you can’t say my girl can’t sing either,” stated Sophomore NaZylah Gipson. The homecoming concert ended with Mariah The Scientist singing her most popular song, Burning Blue. Many reviews of the concert are people praising the Jaguar Activities Board (JAB) for their lineup saying it was “The best lineup since 2021” and “JAB did their big one”. JAB was unavailable for comment.
