This year’s NFL Draft was one for the books with all the surprises, with some players going faster than others while some picks took longer than expected and shocking trades for generational talent. The first round was crazy, with the Tennessee Titans taking Cam Ward. This pick was a significant step forward for the Titans organization, considering a young talent like Ward to build around, and giving a player like Cam Ward good players around him will be beneficial for the team. And speaking of being valuable, the Cleveland Browns traded their pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and they used their pick to get Travis Hunter. This pick was no more than an A+ grade pick. The Heisman trophy winner is a well-known gem in the draft and can play as both wide receiver and cornerback at a high level. He has dominated most of his career, and he will potentially continue his domination in the NFL.
In the second round, a lot of big names were still available. This was one of the most stacked draft classes we’ve seen in a while if we are talking about talent. Available players included Shedeur Sanders, Quinshon Judkins, and Luther Burden III. Furthermore, the New Orleans Saints had the ninth pick in the second round. They use their pick on Tyler Shough from Louisville. A lot of fans are outraged with this pick, but this may be a diamond in the rough with his performance last year, throwing 3,195 yards with a 63% completion rate, 23 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. Some may say we wasted a pick, but we never know what to expect from rookies when they get drafted.
After seven long rounds, the draft concluded, and every athlete’s life changed those 3 nights, whether they were picked on draft night or were signed right after the draft. Regardless, they all have opportunities to change their lives and become something the world has never seen. The NFL will be posting the schedule around May 13-15.
