February 18, 2025 – The campus Senate convened at 4 p.m. to discuss important updates, upcoming events, and administrative matters. The meeting covered various departments and their ongoing initiatives, ensuring that students, faculty, and staff remain informed and engaged.
College of Nursing and Allied Health
The College of Nursing and Allied Health hosted a successful blood drive to support medical needs. Additionally, they organized Tea Tuesday (3 p.m.–5 p.m.), a platform for open discussions on personal experiences and emotions. To support their initiatives, the college also launched a fundraiser featuring the sale of World’s Finest Chocolate.
Sports & Athletics
The Athletics Department is actively preparing for upcoming events, including a Blanket Donation Drive and the Pie an Athlete fundraiser, both aimed at fostering student engagement and community support.
Residential Life
Residential Life hosted a Tying Academy and a Tote Bag Crafting Event on Tuesday, February 18, encouraging student creativity and hands-on learning experiences.
Jukebox Band
The university’s Jukebox Band has been on the move, participating in Honda Battle of the Bands, a pre-game show, and even making an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. The band is also in full preparation mode for its Mardi Gras Parade Schedule.
IT Department
The IT Department addressed concerns regarding spam reports and announced a significant system transition from Banner 8 to Banner 9 to improve efficiency and user experience.
Campus Dining
Campus Dining is currently conducting pop-up tasting events to explore new food options for students. The department is also working on improving communications and considering an update to QR codes to streamline access to dining services.
Traffic & Parking
The Traffic and Parking division announced a staff reshuffle aimed at optimizing campus transportation and parking management.
Finance & Administration
The Finance and Administration office confirmed that refund checks have been disbursed, ensuring students receive their financial aid and other reimbursements on time.
Midterm Exams
As midterm exams approach, students were reminded to prepare and utilize available campus resources to support their academic success.
The meeting concluded with an open discussion where attendees voiced additional concerns and suggestions. The next Senate meeting is expected to build upon these topics, ensuring continued progress in campus operations and student services.
