Meditation, Affirmation, Nutrition, Relationships, Reset, Self-awareness; a stellar mindset that should be maintained in order to be successful. In the midst of the homecoming festivities several students took the time out of their fun for this MANRRS workshop hosted by the MANNRS organization, that took place Tuesday Morning. The panel guest speaker and alumni Dr. Chris Chappell spoke on how vital it was for students to take the time to attend the panel and engage and have feedback also.
This panel also discussed how to use your ability to network whether it be social media or staying after class to speak with your professor invites a lot of opportunities. “Your network is access to opportunity, does not guarantee it, but it gives you access to it,” said Chappell. Students were able to relate because Chappell has indeed been in those undergraduate shoes before and is simply encouraging students to use your network, build your network, to obtain & sustain a successful career.
The Digest was also able to connect with the President of the MANRRS organization President, Sterling Brown and his take on what was obtained from the workshop. “The other students and I gained a lot of insight as far as leadership development, and having a great mindset because that’s where it starts, it always starts with a great mindset. It can dictate what you want to do, what your focuses are, and how you plan on obtaining your future goals and ambitions.” Brown also stated that this is what MANRRS organization is all about, taking the tools you’ve gained outside and inside the classroom and using it. “An organization such as MANRRS can and has helped me start to achieve my ambitions, and I look back to two years ago when I knew nothing about MANRRS, to then becoming a regular member and eventually holding two positions in this organization. This organization has blessed me to travel the world exploring foreign agriculture and that’s what MANRRS means to me, excelling through all avenues.
