“I’m just asking. …I thought this was aninstitution for higher learning, not one for higher stress. Is it me or is the Southern UniversitySystem lacking on a lot of issues this semester? These obvious issues include not being prepared forover-enrollment, unprepared dormitories, not mailing off the adequateinformation for registration and not having the campus ready for students.
After the upset of finding out about the gradescandal situation and the negative feedback the university received from”College Hill”, increase in enrollment was the last thing on everyone’s mind. But it happened.
Enrollment increased, something, which ispositive, but all in all the system had to have been aware of theincrease. Yet, they and did notprepare to house these students. It seems only a matter of time until classesare over-crowded as well as the dormitories.
During the spring semester I know for sure thatmost of the dormitories are getting ready to shutdown until the fall semester. So, I feel like any and every problem that has to be dealt with can be takencare of during the summer. Again the system is lacking on their job, becausethere are a lot of on-campus students that are upset about their rooms and theproblems that they were faced with when they moved in including brokenair-conditions, broken sinks and even torn up blinds.
Every year the system picks a deadline to havethe students have their fees paid and once you don’t meet the deadline, yourclasses get kicked out of the system.
For example I went to summer school and I didn’tget grade report until three weeks ago. On top of that, I didn’t even receive abilling statement to pay my fees. So, my classes were kicked out of the system,I had to go through the entire registration process again and it wasn’t even myfault.
On top of that, they expect the out-of-statestudents to travel back on to campus in the middle of the summer to pay theirfees. Why not do your jobs correctly the first time so that you wouldn’t haveto go through the stress of dealing with a long line of fed up students?
I mean if it was one problem on campus it wouldbe a totally different story but the system is slipping on a number of things. But the question is: For what reason?
I thought in the real world, whenever you pay forsomething you get the entire package. So, why haven’t I received mine yet andwhy do I feel played to the left?
