The Southern University versus Jackson State game in NewOrleans is considered a home game and is free to all SU students.
Tickets can be picked up starting Wednesday, October 6 inthe Southern University ticket office located on Scenic Highway. A valid student ID must be shown at the ticket officeto receive a ticket.
“I think it is great that you can get into any home game andnot have to buy a ticket,” said Rokeisha Cole, a freshman from Eunice majoringin biology.
The ticket fee was included with all other home games in thestudent activity fee.
“I thought I had to by a ticket,” said Brenetta Arvie, afreshman from Opelousas majoring in nursing. “Now that I don’t have to buy aticket I will get me a ride,” Arvie said.
Getting a ride to the game is not a problem for studentsthat are interested in attending the game. Students can sign up to receive aride to and from the game.
“They can sign up in the SGA office,” said Kellee CraigStudent Government Association chief of staff.
Signing up will provide an accurate account of how manypeople need transportation. “The buses will be seated on a first come firstserve basis, ” said Russell Frazier SGA adviser.
To not only be able to go to the game without purchasing aticket and receive transportation is great, said Ty-Shamika Fleming, a seniorfrom Houma majoring in elementary education. “It is very comforting as a student with out anytransportation to go with the busses that the university is providing,” Flemingsaid.
“The chancellor is making the arrangements along with SGA,”said Kiesha Lacour assistant to the Chancellor for Media Relations.
As of Thursday Sept. 30, no official information on studenttickets has been released.
