The Southern UniversityLady Jaguars’ soccer team faced their third forfeit of the season when AlabamaState cancelled their match today against Southern. The make-up date has beententatively scheduled for Oct. 29 at Clark Park in Baker.
Despite the disappointmentdue to another postponed game, the Lady Jags will use the free time to practiceon their weaknesses noticed in former match ups.
Last weekend, the Lady Jagswere victorious with a two shutouts against Alcorn State. They will go on tomeet the Lionettes of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. This will be thefirst meeting between the two this season.
UAPB are ranked third in theconference.
Southern head coach RohanNaraine said that both Southern and UAPB are skilled in many areas, but theGolden Lionettes are more skilled and very aggressive.
“Both teams are very strongand are thirsty for wins. But I think if we pull together as a team and fightextremely hard, we will win again.”
Sunday’s game will bebroadcasted on the Pelican Bay Sports channel. The soccer team is asking forthe support of the student body and staff.
