With hits likethose under belt, the crowd at the Homecoming concert gave Scrappy what heexpected.
“It was crunk,”he said. “But that’s what I expect from the South.”
Scrappy comparedthe east coast hip-hop sound to the South.
“Down here wetalk about the hard s***,” he said. “While everyone else ridin’ around in bigcars we just ride, we don’t talk about it. You feel me, we talk about what’sreally going on.”
Lil Scrappy, whois the protégé of the “King of Crunk”, hip-hop artist Lil Jon, described theirrelationship.
”Jon is like Daddy Crunk, he broughtcrunk out, so I be like ‘That’s my daddy of crunk,'” he said. “I look up to him, you feel me. Whenwe’re together it goes down. When we ain’t together it goes down. I’m a rapper,Lil Jon is like a chanter.”
Scrappy now hashis own record label with various artists, which includes his younger brother.
“We comin’ outreal hard,” Scrappy said.
Scrappy has someadvice for up-and-coming artists who are trying to succeed in the business.
“If they wasborn to do it, it’s cool, if they’re just made to do it, like they have noother situation but to do this or they just looking at TV a lil’ too much andthey want to do it then that aint the right thang. See I’ve been doing thissince I was little,” he said.
Scrappy saidrapping is in his blood and he doesn’t know how to do anything else.
“This is theonly thing I know how to do real good. If they comin’ up looking at me like ‘Ah man I want to be like him when I grow up,’ that’s a goodthang, but you should always want to be better than somebody.”
Scrappy iscurrently working on a new album to be released in 2005.
