Welcome back Jaguars. The time has come once again to get back on the green at Southern University. It is now springtime and most of the spring sports are well on their way with new records that look a lot like the old. The ultimate question is how much different will this season be from spring ‘02.
One thing is for sure is that the two basketball teams on campus have not changed much. The women are 8-3 overall and 5-1 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference and the men are3-9 overall and 1-5 in SWAC.
I haven’t been to many basketball games I most admit; however, from the looks of things I am only missing one show. The season is still young therefore I will not talk too fast. The women’s story can only get better, but the men must make a change. The men and women’s track teams are in the same state as last year with two meets under their wing. The same men and women are still improving-give or take a few.
The women’s track team can definitely change their season; it’s just how badly they want to make that change. The women’s bowling team finished last year doing great and started this year off the same way. Golf season started in the fall with the women winning big. The second half of their season starts in February along with baseball, softball, and tennis.
One thing that will not change is the sports writers who include Nikki and myself. We promise to continue working hard and covering as many sports as we can.
I wish all the teams good luck with their season because all I ever want to see you all do is perform to the best of you ability. Fortunately, there are no pressing issues hovering over my head so this will conclude my editorial of square business.
