Southern University Chancellor Edward R. Jackson has announced that a coronation ceremony for Miss Southern University, Kyana Stewart, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 26 in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Union.
Stewart, a native of Houston, was elected by the student body to reign as Miss Southern 2003-2004.
A senior majoring in chemistry, Stewart is the daughter of Wilfred and Diane Cassimere Stewart.
SGA President Wayne Haydin will be her escort.
Members of the royal court include Christal Aguillard, Miss Senior, a secondary education major from Ventress; Kenyatta Williams, Miss Junior, an electrical engineering major from Vicksburg, Miss.; Kelly Lewis, Miss Sophomore, a mass communications major from Opelousas; Shakeila Sweazie, Miss Freshman, a criminal justice major from Alexandria.
