Southern University starting defensive back Lenny Williams has been selected to participate in the 1st Annual TFN/Division I-AA All-Star Classic. The game will be held at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on December 30.
The Southwestern Athletic Preseason Defensive Player of the Year has three interceptions, 11 total passes defended and 54 total tackles this season.
Jags starting quarterback Quincy Richard has been named to The Sports Network’s Payton Watch, an award honoring the Division I-AA Player of the Year.
Richard’s 66.1 passing percentage is currently the highest in the SWAC and he has thrown 19 touchdowns this season. Other players who are being “watched” include Grambling State’s starting quarterback Bruce Eugene and Bethune-Cookman senior quarterback Allen Suber.
The award was named after the late Jackson State alum and Chicago Bears’ running back Walter Payton.
