The Southern University intramural ladies’ flag football team is starting the season winning big across the country.
The first stop was Gainesville, Fla., where The Dream Team recently went to participate in The Swamp Bowl. For the third consecutive year, head coaches Lawrence Lewis and Mark Greecy led the ladies to another title.
Pensacola, Fla. was the site of the ladies’ next competition where the ladies participated in the University of West Florida Regional Flag Championship. The Dream Team defeated Arkansas Tech, the University of North Florida and the Florida A&M to win their third consecutive UWF Regional Flag Championship title.
Quarterback Alisia Cardoza was selected as the tournament’s most valuable player, while Arneisha Brisco and Tiesha Wilson-Bradford were selected to the all-tournament team.
The Southern Soldiers, Southern University’s intramural men’s flag football team, competed in the men’s category of the University of West Florida Regional Championships.They are currently ranked No. 1 in the nation and world among intramural teams, but finished in fourth place in the tournament.
The intramural squad’s next tournament will be at LSU for the State Flag Tournament on November 22-23.
