Alabama A&M University Lady Bulldogs captured their fourth straight SWAC title by defeating the Grambling State University Lady Tigers in the 2003 SWAC Volleyball Championships on November 15 in Huntsville, Ala.
The Lady Bulldogs, led by tournament MVP Lutasha Bradley, completed their conference season 11-0.
The win secured a berth for the Lady Bulldogs in the 2003 NCAA Volleyball Championships. The Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Jags of Southern University to get to the finals.
“We didn’t play like we should have played,” said Lady Jaguars’ head coach Nathaniel Denu. “It was a team effort and they gave their best.”
SU went into the tournament ranked 4th in the SWAC’s western division.
Although the Lady Jags claimed three spots on last season’s All-SWAC post-tournament and post-season roster, no one on the team’s roster claimed a spot this year.
