A student floods the chemistry lab.
A female resident starts a fire in her dormitory.
These are just a few of the incidents that has marred the campus of Southern University over the last month.
Students’ lack of concern for the safety of others and their disrespect for property has some administrators worried.
“I think it all starts at home,” said Robert Bennett, dean of student life. “I think it’s a reflection of what they’re doing in their community.”
Bennett said that he sees it all– from armed robberies in dormitory hallways to the illegal use of marijuana in dorms. Students can also be held responsible and be required to pay for any and all damages and destruction to property and have disciplinary action taken against them.
Students witnessing any illegal acts can call JagWatch at 771-3784.
