The Southern University Lady Jaguar softball team has big plans for their season.
Using the team goal of “one game at a time,” the Lady Jags have their sights set on winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship.
“Our girls believe they can compete and win the SWAC championship,” said softball head coach Nancy Marshall. “We know that we can win the SWAC if we put our minds to it.”
The Lady Jags are hoping to keep that championship spirit as they face Louisiana College on March 3 at home. The meeting will be Southern’s second home game of the season and will mark the second time the Lady Jags will face Louisiana College.
“We don’t know much about them. They are a young team,” said Marshall. “We have to go in and try to win both games. Go in with our minds focused on beating them.”
Following Monday’s game against Louisiana College, the Lady Jaguars have a series of road games before returning to the Lady Jaguar Softball Field to face the Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University on March 21.
