LA OFFICE OF MOTOR VEHICLES COMES TO SUBR
The Mobile Customer Service Center, Louisiana DMV’s Office On Wheels will be coming to the SUBR campus on Monday, April 14, 2003, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Smith-Brown Memorial Union. Free services provided will include voter’s registration, organ donation and address changes. Charged services include driver’s license renewal or duplicate, initial, renewal of duplicate identification card, mobility impaired hang tags, name changes, vehicle title and registration, renew Louisiana license plates, duplicate vehicle registration and title. Cash or checks accepted. No credit cards. Proof of insurance is required for all drivers’ license and vehicle registration transaction.
INCOME TAX PREPARATION ASSISTANCE
Free assistance with preparation of your 2002 income tax forms is available from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each Saturday, beginning February 15 until April 12 at the Southern University Law Center, A.A. Lenoir hall on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program will help qualified persons prepare the 1040A and 1040EZ forms. LITERARY SOCIETY SPRING ACTIVITIES
The SU Literary Society invites everyone to attend its spring semester activities, which include book reviews, a lecture series and a readers’ series featuring local and regional authors reading their works. Book reviews will be held on April 22. The Readers’ Series will be held on April 23. OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR HEALTH INSURANCE
Open enrollment for health insurance for faculty and staff is scheduled April 1-30. Open enrollment meetings will be at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-Brown Memorial Union on April 7. Scantron documents will be available one hour prior to each meeting. If you miss the meetings, Scantron documents will also be available April 21–SU Ag Research Ext., April 22–SU Law Center, April 23–School of Nursing, April 24–Physical Plant and April 25-J.S. ON CAMPUS FREE HIV TESTING
Anonymous/Confidential Testing for students, faculty, staff, and general
public will be held on each Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Southern University Student Health Center. No needles. No blood. Services and confidential results provided by Metro Health. SU NURSING SCHOOL ACCEPTING SDS APPLICATIONS
The Southern University School of Nursing will be accepting applications for the Scholarship for Disadvantaged Students beginning April 1-14. These applications are for Nursing majors who are and will be registered full-time. Awards are dependent upon funding from the granting agency center. Applications are available in the B.S.N. Program Office, SU School of Nursing–Second Floor.
GRE REGISTRATION REBATE OFFERS
A research study is being conducted among minority students concerning the GRE test and possible modifications in its verbal section. For participating, students are being offered a refund for the registration fee for the test. To be eligible for the refund, you must be either African American or Hispanic American and must register by April 10 to take the GRE General Test. Your test date needs to be either in the month or May or June. Immediately after you register for the GRE program, you will need your confirmation that you are aware of the scores that you receive on the GRE general test will be a part of your record and will be reportable; and your confirmation that you will complete the research section of the test.
