JACKSON, Miss.-Jackson State University athletics director Roy Culberson has almost narrowed the field down for JSU’s next men’s head basketball coach.
Currently among the candidates are associate head coach Eric Strothers, assistant coach Alan Perry, Mississippi State assistant coach Robert Kirby and Ole Miss assistant coach Wayne Brent.
“All of these coaches are strong candidates for the jobs,” said Culberson.
“I also plan to interview about eight to 10 candidates this weekend in New Orleans.”
Culberson plans to have a new coach hired within the next two weeks.
“I’m looking for a coach who is a strong disciplinarian, can teach the fundamentals of the game and who is marketable within the community and the corporate sector,” adds Culberson.
The new coach will replace Andy Stoglin who was released after 14 season at JSU. The Tigers posted a 10-18 overall and a 9-9 conference record this season.
