The Baby Jags at the Head Start Center have a lot to be thankful for.
As they enjoyed the day with the junior class of Southern University they experienced many new things.
On Sept.10, the junior class participated in their first community service project of the semester.
“We figured we would just start right here on our campus”, said Junior Class President Kia Smith, a physics major from Zachary.
The class volunteers as well as the officers partook in the event. Some of the tasks that the junior class completed included: boarding a fence that was worn out, replacing boards on the fence, and painting the fence.
The class painted the fence different colors, but the baby jags added the spice with their handprints, their names, and the junior class officers and volunteers names.
The class donated the fence to SU and the Head Start Center in memory of September 11th and Maximillian Johnson, who was a member of the junior class.
“This is the first of many things we will do for the class, school, community and the world,” Smith said. The junior class also participated in the September 11 program.
Upcoming events for the junior class include a block party on Sept. 18, at the Pavilion from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m..
