Coming off a 46-24 win against Prairie View, the Southern University Jaguars (3-5 overall, 3-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) are once again preparing for another emotional match-up-this time against Alcorn State University Braves (5-2 overall, 3-2 SWAC).
The Jags are getting healthier by the minute as head coach Pete Richardson plans to start junior quarterback Anthony Fisher and the resurgence in play of senior linebacker Chris Cooper adds to a wish list that the Jaguar Nation could only ask for.
Alcorn State will be coming off a week of much needed rest. The Braves were defeated by Samford 34-25 October 19th and will be facing a Jaguars squad that is ready to step up to the challenge and matriculate off of that loss.
“They’re (Alcorn State) is a team very similar to ours,” said Richardson. ” …Our confidence level is starting to develop more.”
The Jags will be hosting the Braves Saturday at A.W. Mumford Stadium at 7 p.m.
