Throughout recent years, the entertainment world has suffered great losses. From Tupac to the most the recent, Jam Master Jay, fans cannot help but to wonder… why?
Is there a curse on the rap music industry? Or is it that these artistic individuals have completed their tasks here on earth?
Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion and based on your preference of music, you have reached your own conclusion.
When writing this column, it became clear, that even though these artists led different lives, they are linked together in one tragic way… all have died by the bullet of an unknown assassin. Besides that fact, they were popular entertainers, hip-hop leaders and were black.
It seems to be when a generation of people gets behind a leader, history repeats itself.
Tupac & Biggie were two of hip-hop’s biggest leaders that were killed in their prime, leaving a void in the hip-hop community.
With all the money, power, respect and public attention given, these rap artists, still were not able to protect their own lives. By being visionaries and talented individuals, fans saw them as invincible. They never saw that these entertainers, their idols, would see death so soon.
Rap fans still listen to these fallen idols, as if they are still here on earth. Rumors stating that they are still alive are still flying. It appears as if they are not affected by their deaths, in the least. Despite the rap game being depicted as a dangerous career, youngsters with talent, are still vying for a position with a popular rap company
The question that has been lingering in minds is, “is there a future for the rap industry?” Also, the question everyone is afraid to ask, “do they still have a career, in the industry, after they have died?”.
My magic eight ball says “not likely.”
