The 25th of February will be the beginning of a week filled with career day festivities in Smith-Brown Memorial Union.
“Fifty Southern University retirees will be talking to classes on Monday,” said Al Barron, director of career services.
According to Barron, the retirees are part of a motivational task force instructing the classes on work ethic, community service, giving back to the university and; making it in the work world.
On the 26th an intern skill workshop sponsored by the Business and Industry Cluster will take place. Finally, on the 27th career day will be held in the union.
“We are looking for all majors, there is something for everyone and each individual should stop by,” said Barron.
Barron stated, he believes that it is critical that students get as much information as they can about the job market.
According to Barron the recession has lessened the number of companies looking for new employees.
“Buses will be running from the activity center for the off campus students,” said Barron.
Barron said he encourages all SU students to register with career services located here on campus. Students also have the option of registering on-line at Monstertrak.com.
Barron also mentioned that there will be a technology fair on March 15th.
