Midterms are upon us. This is a time where we will measure how well or how badly our classes are going. If you are passing your courses, keep on going as you have been. If not, well, you definitely need to make some improvements. But, don’t let the stress that usually comes along with these improvements get you down.
Unfortunately, stress is a major part of the college experience. It can cause even the most “together” student to fall apart. I’ve been there.
In prior semesters, just when I thought I had it together, stress came along and made my life miserable. Coping with stress had become a big problem for me. It affected my classes and my interactions with family and friends. I began to feel as though stress was going to run me into the ground.
Fortunately, there was light at the end of the tunnel. I decided to learn more about stress and how to deal with it.
I found that a great way to prevent stress is time management. I began to do my assignments with time left to do other things. Almost instantly I found that I felt less stressed about my work.
Now, I am not saying that time management will eliminate all stress. It is just a fact of life that there will be stress. But, learning how to pace yourself will definitely cut back stress and all of the pressures that it brings.
So, as we all embark on midterms and all other stress-causing events in our academic career, remember, manage your time wisely and always stay one step ahead.
