LITERARY SOCIETY SPRING ACTIVITIES
The Southern University Literary Society invites everyone to attend its spring semester activities which includes book reviews (April 23 – SBMU Cotillion Ballroom) and a readers’ series (April 3 & April 17 – SBMU Blue & Gold Room) featuring local and regional authors reading their works. INTRAMURAL
AEROBICS
Aerobics is being offered in the Women’s Gym on Monday and Wednesday @ 7 p.m. Aerobics is open to students, men and women, faculty/staff, university alumni and retirees. Participants should dress appropriately for aerobics and bring a large towel and an exercise pad. Kick boxing and high and low impact aerobics will be offered also. Join the Red Cross in celebrating and recognizing the role of supporters in the lifesaving mission of the organization. National Alcohol Screening Day
The University Counseling Center (UCC) will host the 2002 National Alcohol Screening Day Program on Thursday April 11th. There will be two sessions for your convenience at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. All participants will receive a free gift. For more information, contact the UCC at 771-2480.
Calling All Sunday School Workers
The Southern University Sunday School is seeking a superintendent, a pianist, Sunday School Teachers and Regular Members. If you know your Bible, our Sunday School needs you! Earth Day 2002
Essay Contest
The Contest is open to all students and is sponsored by the Southern University Center for Energy and Environmental Studies. Entries must capture the essence of this year’s theme, “A River Runs Through Us!” All entries must be received by April 5, 2002. The winning piece will also be recognized at the University’s Earth Day Committee.
The winner will be recognized at the university’s Earth Day Speak Out on Wednesday, April 17, 2002. The winning piece will be printed in the Southern Digest. The winner may also be asked to present his/her piece at a live airing of a local television show. Motivational Speaker Series
Dr. Reginald Rackley, associate professor of psychology at Southern University will be the last motivational speaker for the 2002 spring semester. He will speak on April 10, 2002 in the Smith Brown Memorial Union Cotillion Ballroom at 7 p.m. His theme is: “If You Try You Will Always Break the Back of Misfortune.” All students are invited to attend!
Teacher Job Fair
The College of Education will hold a Teacher Job Fair on April 9, 2002 in Clifford Seymour Gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please bring at least ten copies of your current resume. Recruiters will represent school districts from Louisiana and many other states. All prospective teachers, those seeking teaching positions in other parishes and states, all employed teachers and school counselors are invited to attend.
