Southern University Dean of Nursing Dr. Janet Rami was recently appointed to the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice.
During her four-year term, Rami will be responsible for delegating $150.5 million towards nursing education. Rami will also be advising the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Congress on policy issues related to nurse workforce supply, education and practice improvement.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Rami has dedicated her life to improving access to nursing education to Louisiana’s young women, said a press release, especially those of color and to improving the quality of care provided to Louisiana’s populations.
Receiving her undergraduate degree in nursing from Dillard University, a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi and a doctorate in Research Methodology from Louisiana State University, Rami serves on the Louisiana Governor’s Health Works Commission, the Governors Health Care Transition team and served as chair and vice chair of the state’s Governor’s Council on Minority Health.
