There are a lot of people who’ve accused me of being racist towards white people. To my surprise, the majority of the people whom have indicted me of such are black people.
Perhaps it is because I’m “too ethnic.” I am always wearing red, yellow, green and black beads around my neck; or the dreds in my hair or the black power fist tattooed on my right arm.
Maybe it’s because I do not pledge my allegiance to the “white” American flag and I believe it represents a freedom that black people do not have.
Possibly, it’s because I prefer to support the black man who is trying to make ends meet by selling clothes on the corner street rather than giving my money to the white man in the mall.
Yet, it could merely be because I walk with my head held high, with my fist pointed to the sky, shouting, ‘Black power.’
It could conceivably be because I believe in reconstructing the concept of black love, black unification, black enlightenment and black intellectualism.
Though there was a time I hated the black skin I was in. I hated the fact whites had the upper hand. Yet, I still I aspired to be like them. I saw white people as being superior and I thought of myself inferior in their presence.
I was once blinded by the negative theories white American society presented to me. However, I have opened my eyes and realize the majority, who is white, does not care about the minority, who are people who look like me.
People want to place accusations upon me and say I hate white people, but personally, I am just trying to wake up my black ‘brothas’ and ‘sistahs’ who have slept for so long. I want to show them racism (especially white racism) is still a prevalent factor in America.
Racism destroys the lives of black people. Though there are not physical shackles on our bodies, there are chains that remain on our brain which conclude to the distortion of our perspective on life.
For instance, most blacks have a naive perception about the welfare system. Most black people believe it is a form of governmental assistance to help them until they can fully support themselves. However, what a lot of people do not know is the welfare system is in fact a system designed to fail. It was created to keep blacks entrapped inside the palm of “white” America’s hands, thus secretively giving blacks a lackadaisical mindset.
Welfare is one of many white racists’ concealed systematically geared toward the annihilation of black self-improvement. It purposely hinders the progression of blacks to become successful individuals and the majority of us never see a check outside of welfare.
Racism has turned black neighborhoods into battlefields; where black blood is poured out into the streets every day. It has caused blacks to result in violence against one another.
White people acknowledge the fact most blacks people come from poverty and that we desire to have the finer things in life.
So they furtively become promoters of black-on-black crime, and purposely put drugs and guns in the black communities, as they sit back and watch us do their job and eliminate each other.
We ridicule and fight each other over the shades of our skin, the texture of our hair and the structure of our bodies. But we never acknowledge the fact we are black.
Black is truly beautiful and white people are envious of our splendor, which is why they make us hate ourselves for who we are. The dark-skinned people and the light-skinned people are against each other and every one wants to look like a super model.
It is as if we are puppets on marionette strings, but instead of cutting the strings we just hang there in total submission to the great puppeteer, which is the white man.
The reason why I pressure the issue of Black Power is because I believe that it is time for black people to stop acting like puppets and cut the strings the white man has on our lives.
It’s time for us to stop killing each other and come together in unison. Black unity is the white man’s biggest threat, because he knows together we are powerful. This is why the he tries his best to keep racism alive, especially racism amongst ourselves.
If all of the energy used to kill over money were put into the restructuring of black unity and supporting each other, we would be a successful race.
Instead of filling our heads with violence and hatred, we should fill our minds with knowledge and research our history.
After we gain a new knowledge and perspective of life we should come together and unveil the mask in which America hides behind which is white racism.
If my believing in, supporting and loving my race makes me a racist, then guess what. I am a big racist who believes in uniting my race.
And I will continue to walk with my fist in the sky and shout, ‘Black power,’ every minute of every hour.
