The Baton Rouge AIDS Society (BRASS) has been awarded a three-year grant by the Office of Minority Health for technical assistance and capacity development of HIV/AIDS — related services in Faith-Based Minority Servicing Community in the amount of $869,641.
This opportunity will allow 12 F.B.M.S.C. in the greater Baton Rouge area to develop the ability to provide HIV/AIDS prevention, education, awareness and services in those areas identified as high risk.
The grant will also allow the agency to provide training and technical assistance in administrative capacity building.
The agency will work in conjunction with Louisiana Association of Non-Profit Organizations and The Policy and Research Group to provide these services.
In recognition of World AIDS Day, BRASS will offer a FREE Faith-Based Symposium, covering HIV and related issues and how those issues are affecting the community, particularly faith-based organizations.
The event will take place at the Sheraton Hotel located at 102 France Street in Baton Rouge on Dec. 1 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed a prayer luncheon. The event will conclude with a press conference from 1 to 2 p.m. To register, contact (225) 923-AIDS or register online at www.BRASSFBI.org.
