SouthernUniversity will hold a three-day women’s summit titled, Calling All SistersTogether, March 1 through 3.
“TheCalling All Sisters Together Summit will discuss pertinent issues of collegiatewomen,” said Enitra Jones, C.A.S.T. Program Coordinator. “It is designed topromote unification among Southern, LSU and BRCC students.”
The themefor the summit this year is Evolution: Mental, Physical and Spiritual.Motivational speakers, panel discussions, games and refreshments will takeplace nightly from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom of the Smith-BrownMemorial Union.
“The truepurpose of a summit is to get opinions and thoughts together,” said CharityMoran, C.A.S.T. Co-Coordinator. “We are also in the works for faculty programsto support our female professors.”
KhristieDyson, a graduate of Southern University, spearheaded the program three yearsago.
This is thethird year for the summit, beginning in 2002 and continued with the secondmeeting in 2003.
“I believethat this will be a great opportunity,” said Britnee Matthews, a sophomorecomputer science major from St. Louis. “I will be able to learn more aboutmyself and my peers.”
Pre-registrationforms are available in the Student Government Association Office and all femaledormitories. Registration fees are fifteen dollars for college participantswith a t-shirt, ten for college participants with no t-shirt, twenty-fivedollars for a non-collegiate participant with t-shirt and twenty dollars for anon-collegiate participant with no t-shirt.
All pricesare effective before Feb. 20. All fees are increased by five dollars for thoseindividuals wishing to register after the deadline date. To pay fees, women areencouraged to pay with a money order check made payable to C.A.S.T. Money andforms can be dropped off in the SGA office. If desiring to pay by cash, seeEnitra Jones personally.
“I am veryexcited about the summit,” Jones said. “I’m glad to see more individuals getinvolved.”
