PITTSBURGH(AP) – Actor and comedian BillCosby accepted an award from the University of Pittsburgh and talked about theimportance of parenting — which doesn’t include soda for breakfast.
Cosby receivedthe 2005 Porter Prize from the university’s graduate school of public health.He received the award at Reizenstein Middle School as 800 students, parents andlocal residents looked on.
Cosby spokeabout being an attentive and persistent parent. He said parents need to teachtheir children lessons at home and need to make an effort to be a part of theirchildren’s lives.
”These children need to be watched andyou need to stay on the case. If you can’t do it, get some help.”
He alsosaid children need to get healthier and suggested parents should stop feedingtheir children soda and chips for breakfast.
“This foodis not funny that we’re eating,” he said.
