Fire and Fury has only been released for a few weeks, but has been the topic of discussion for a while.
Michael Wolff spent over a year in the White House to write a book that was originally titled, The Great Transition: The First 100 Days of the Trump Administration.
The book is a behind the scenes account of the Trump Administration from the night of the 2016 election to the dismissal of former FBI director, James Comey.
After the book was announced and the release date set, Trump tweeted saying, “I authorized zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony book! I never spoke to him for book. Look at this guy’s past and watch what happens to him and Sloppy Steve!”
According to the Los Angeles Times, that tweet was posted a few hours after Trump’s lawyers demanded that Wolff and Henry Holt & Co. stop publication of the book. Not only did they refuse, but moved the release date up 4 days, and it became a bestseller.
Many people who have reviewed this book have stated that they never would’ve read it in the first place if Trump didn’t try so hard to stop its publication.
After reading, it’s easy to admit that Wolff’s book it quite believable. It opens up with the fact that no one in the Trump campaign expected him to win the election.
Wolff wrote in the first chapter about everyone’s plan moving on after the election for example, Kellyanne Conway’s plan was to become a cable news star. Donald Trump guaranteed his wife, Melania, whose modeling career seemed to be suffering because of the campaign, that he would not win the election.
Wolff also cites many staff members describing Trump as almost impossible to work with. One stated, “He stays on script for 3 hours but then he does his own thing.”
It is easy to believe that all of the things described in the book occurred because of the way that Trump has conducted himself throughout the entirety of his election and presidency. This book is telling us things about him that we already knew and confirms things that we suspected.
Go back to when he openly suggested he might not win the election stating, “This is a rigged system,”or the way that he talked about women in the Access Hollywood tape stating, “I just start kissing them. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.” Those aren’t necessarily trustworthy actions.
The reason why he tried to stop it from being published is because it truly exposes him for the man he really is. Everyone who defended or voted for Trump or who didn’t vote last election needs to read this book, and use it as a reminder to not only pay attention to our leaders but to also try and get more involved in politics. A reminder to really understand elections have consequences and it is important to vote with knowledge and confidence. We should support the person we know will do good even if they aren’t from our political party.
Check it out for yourself and see what you think.
