The Southern University Police Department released a statement at approximately 7:00 AM regarding road closures due to inclement weather. It reads:
Due to flooding on Scenic Highway, the Harding Blvd overpass has been shutdown until further notice. Swan Street is also closed. Please use the Mills Avenue (Back Gate) entrance to enter and leave the campus.
WBRZ reports that a flash flood warning has been issued for East Baton Rouge Parish and West Baton Rouge Parish until 10:30 AM.
Heavy thunderstorms will continue into the afternoon and some areas in the city have already received two to three inches of rain.
Students are asked to be cautious when traveling and to also monitor their student emails for more updates.
