Southern lost two of three games to Prairie View this weekend in its first Southwestern Athletic Conference series in April.
“We just didn’t hit the ball well,” head coach Nancy Marshall said as SU lost 4-0 while posting only three.
Southern (15-18, 8-5 SWAC) only mustered three hits against PV pitching as the Lady Panthers roughed up SU pitchers.
The Jaguars struggled hitting left-hand pitcher Rebecca Martinez as she stymied SU’s offense with five strikeouts to capture the 2-1 victory in the second game of Saturday’s twin bill.
The final game of the series went all Southern’s way as they belted the Panthers 9-0 in six innings to close out the series.
Southern returns home to Lady Jaguar Field, Wednesday to face Southeastern Louisiana University. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
