Southern University’s Faculty Senate, along with students, will attend the state House Appropriations Committee meeting Tuesday.
The committee will hear, dis-cuss and entertain testimony regarding House Bill No. 1 for Higher Education. All Southern University students are invited to attend, along with faculty and staff.
The meeting will discuss crucial budget issues for the university, which could determine the future of the school. Possible issues to be discussed include the Board of Regents’ formulas for closure and initiative spending.
SU’s Baton Rouge campus currently stands to lose $10 million, excluding future budget cuts, or the committee’s decision.
Louisiana’s regular legislative session begins April 27. For more session dates and upcoming meetings, visit: www.legis.state.la.us.
