Nursing associate professor Dr. Wanda Raby Spurlock received the Nightingale Award for “Outstanding Community Service by a Registered Nurse” from the Louisiana State Nurses Association during the 8th Annual Nightingale Awards Ceremony.
Spurlock said winning the award was a “humbling experience.”
Her community service involvement spans from Medicaid, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), KIDMED and various immunization programs.
Spurlock has been with the School of Nursing for 15 years, where she has served as an administrator of the nurse-managed Family Health Care Center.
“Phight the Phat” aims to improve health
The Marketing Club at Southern University’s “Phight the Phat” Week (March 9-13) plans to include aerobics classes, bungee jump, a field day, and Sub-Way sandwich gives away to help Southern students prepare for spring break, among other things.
Computer Science to Host Workshop
The Computer Science Depart-ment will host a Louisiana Optic Network Initiative (LONI) High Performance Computing (HPC) in P.B.S. Pinchback Hall, with festivities beginning today at 8 a.m.
The workshop will feature an overview of LONI, as well as an introduction to HPC environment, introduction to parallel computing, scientific visualization and MPA.
