MIAMI – Lil’ Wayne has been sued by promoters who claim he missed a concert date and refused to reschedule it.
Two Tampa Bay Entertainment companies filed the lawsuit Friday in Miami-Dade County Circuit Court. The lawsuit claims Lil’ Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, signed a contract Sept. 18 to perform at a Tampa nightclub on Oct. 29.
Lil’ Wayne missed the event and returned a $15,000 deposit, but he still owes promoters $45,000 for canceling the show, the lawsuit said.
The rapper was also obligated to schedule another performance in the Tampa Bay area to make up for the missed date but has not done so, the lawsuit said.
Besides $45,000 in actual damages, the lawsuit said Lil’ Wayne’s cancellation caused more than $200,000 in lost profits from the concert.
