The Black Entertainment Television Black College Tour is the largest and only national tour of its kind and it will be making a stop at Southern University on Wednesday, October 3rd.
“This will be the third year that BET has come to Southern, and the feedback from students has been really good”, said Terral Jackson, Homecoming Activities Director.
According to BET’s website the tour will consist of activities ranging from informational to sporting events.
There will be a freestyle flow competition that will be sponsored by Pepsi, A 2-on-2 basketball game sponsored by the Air Force, and a poetry jam along with many other activates that will bring out the competitive edge in students and allow them to express themselves along with the chance to win prizes from the sponsors of each game.
Not only will there be games students will be receive information form places like BET’s “Rap It Up” tent which will provide students with information on AIDS awareness. Students will be able to talk to representatives from Air Force and also meet and greet some of BET’s well known on air personalities. The tour will end with a concert featuring two Universal Records recording artist.
According to BET.com the tour is part of BET’s continual effort to support historically Black colleges and universities by providing relevant, engaging and informative entertainment and outreach to minority students.
The BET Black College Tour will be held on the Lawn of Mayberry from noon to 4 p.m. The BET Black College Tour is only open to Southern students with a valid student I.D.
