The Southern University Lady Jaguars soccer team will welcome the Jackson State University Lady Tigers to A.W. Mumford stadium today (Friday, October 19, 2007).
Southern (3-10-1, 2-1-1 SWAC) is coming off their latest victory over Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division foe the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff 2-0 for their second divisional win.
For the first time in SU soccer history the Blue and Gold have a winning conference record and is currently tied for second in the SWAC West.
“We always knew we could win we just needed to believe it ourselves,” said head coach John Knighten about the team. ”
The final home contest will begin at 3 p.m., but before the game, seniors Miriam Akinfosile, Britnee Matthews, Renell Reid and Khady Faty will be honored. The event is free and open to the public.
