True freshman Divinity Bradley continues to excel in the goal for the Lady Jaguars but Southern was unable to score as they lost 3-0 to Mississippi Valley State University.
Southern (1-10-1, 1-1-1 SWAC) recorded 10 shots in the game with six being on goal. Nassau, Bahamas native, Leandra Ferguson ended the game with three shots while junior transfer Meghan Prodecca finished with two.
The current Southwestern Athletic Conference Goalie of the Week had seven saves at the end of the first half and 10 in the second.
The Jaguars lone win this season came on September 30 with a home victory over Texas Southern, 2-1 and the team tied Prairie View 1-1 two day earlier.
“It was a well played game but the mistakes we made cost us the victory,” said head coach John Knighten. “The defenders played tough blocking a lot of shots that Valley made. I was really impressed with them for their hard work.
Today, Southern will host Alcorn State University at 4p.m. The game will be played at Clark Park in Baker. After a October 16 trip to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the Jaguars will host Jackson State on October 19, at 3 p.m., in Mumford Stadium in it last home contest of the year.
