DNS — The Southern University Lady Jaguars will host the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff Lady Lions on Friday, April 21st at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Saturday, April 22nd at 11 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This four game series will be televised live on Cox cable channel 37.
“We’re excited about the chance to play on television,” said head coach Nancy Marshall. “Even with the game on television and our senior day falling Saturday we will still be about business.”
Southern (20-22 overall, 13-7 Southwestern Athletic Conference) currently holds a 4-1 record in their last five contests. The Lady Jags defeated conference rival Grambling State University by out-scoring them 50-4 in their four-game series. SU left Grambling with 46 hits, 12 doubles, five triples and 41 runs batted in. The Lady Jaguars pitchers combined for 1.29 ERA with eight strikeouts in 21 innings pitched.
Their only defeat came against the Northwestern State University Lady Demons who held them to one hit. Senior Jayme Roberts gave up 10 hits and recorded one strikeout in the five inning 0-8 lost.
This weekend will mark the final SWAC game for the Lady Jaguars. For their final home game, they will play Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Lady Jaguars will celebrate senior day on Saturday, April 22nd.
