The Southern University College of Business will hold its annual awards banquet on April 27 at 6 p.m. in the Smith-Brown Memorial Union.
The annual banquet pays recognition to the achievements of its scholars and students for the College of Business and also serves as a venue to recognize the kindness and generosity of donors and contributors such as General Motors, All State and State Farm Insurance agencies among others.
“The college of business aims to provide a quality business program that prepares students with diverse backgrounds for global career challenges and makes a positive contribution to the public and private sectors,” said Dr. Donald Andrews, dean of the college of business.
“The awards banquet gives those students a chance to see the other business majors in the college who are doing well and also gives them an opportunity to meet the donors who are responsible for their scholarships,” Andrews said.
Serving as keynote speakers and chapter honorees for Beta Gamma Sigma will be Donald J. Delandro and SU system president Ralph Slaughter.
Delandro serves as Brigadier General of the United States Army and is the founder of Affordable Supplies Company, a corporation which supplies workforce development through education and training and also provides services for statistical analysis and analytical support. Delandro has also been the Chief Executive Officer of companies engaged in supply, service and management operations.
Dr. Ralph Slaughter is the newly elected President of the Southern University System and is the former coordinator of the State Farm Bayou Classic. He has also served as secretary of Louisiana’s state revenue and taxation department.
Contributions collected from the banquet are used to fund scholarships, faculty development activities and maintenance of accreditation.
Tickets can be purchased in advance in the Office of the Dean for $25.00, but can also be purchased the day of the event.
The college recommends that all business students attend the ceremony to celebrate and recognize the accomplishments of their peers and to meet some of the colleges major contributors.
