Two residents of Mildred Satterwhite Hall were robbed at gunpoint by unidentified burglars, said Robert Bennett, director of Student Life.
It is not known if the perpetrators were students or non-students here at Southern University. The men were said to be wearing black bandanas, which covered up their faces, so their identification is not known at this time.
“As of this time the police haven’t caught the suspects and are still investigating the case,” stated Bennett.
The suspects allegedly entered the room with semi-automatic weapons and demanded that the residents hand over their possessions. The room door is believed to have been left open, allowing the burglars to enter the room and rob the students.
The robbers made out with a DVD player, stereo equipment, one of the roommates’ wallets containing an American Express card and $40 dollars cash.
According to Bennett, students must always remember that this campus is relatively safe, but crime does take place.
“Students living on this campus must exercise caution and not be careless about leaving your door open at night and where they go because they can make themselves a target for crime if they are not safe,” exclaimed Bennett.
