Southern University’s Division of Continuing Education will commence its latest program for seniors and retirees during a reception in the Magnolia Room in Mayberry Dining Hall on Sunday, September 16.
“We are excited about this program and what it will offer to both the senior population and to our university community,” Dr. Barbara W. Carpenter, director of Continuing Education said. “We realize that this segment of the population had a lot to offer and Southern, in turn has much to offer them.
Most courses will meet once a week in addition to inexpensive mini-workshops.
Programs planned for this semester include seminars of Living Wills and Trusts, Health Issues for Seniors, Book Reviews, and Decorating Ideas for those on a Budget, and a basic computer course.
Participants will also receive a SU ID card identifying them as a Society member and will receive free admission to cultural events on campus, a pass to the John B. Cade Library, use of a computer laboratory, a special bowling night, reduced meals in the Student Union and campus cafeteria and a discount on books.
