The Association for Women Students hosted their annual free beauty fair in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom in the Smith-Brown Memorial Union, Tuesday October 10.
The fair featured 11 local businesses to provide services to the student body including D’John’s Unisex Salon,
Panache Hair and Body, Claudia Anthony, Jazzy Jo Jo, Mo’ Hair, Kinks & Co., Lady’s Best Hair, Ray Bolar, Braidshop, Dinah Riggs and Anna Carriere of Mary Kay.
This year the vendors provided numerous services to the students in attendance including haircuts, styles, makeovers, back massages and eyebrow shaping.
“I think that this event is a wonderful opportunity for Southern University. I really appreciate the AWS and the Men’s Fed for putting on this event for the students,” said Rochelle Devold, a senior biology major.
In addition to the fair’s usual services, there were also vendors for the male students.
“A lot of guys came out, which was good. It was a good turnout and a lot of people came out to get the free services that were available,” said Monica Bellard, AWS activity coordinator.
The vendors provided braiding, haircuts and skin care products for male participants. The vendors expressed their joy in being able to service the Southern University student body.
