The Southern University volleyball team will conclude their season in Pine Bluff, Arkansas at the 2001 SWAC volleyball tournament on November 16th and 17th.
The Lady Jaguars enter the tournament with an overall record of 11-18 (3-5). They enter the tournament as the number four seed from SWAC West Division.
The first opponent of the Lady Jags in the single elimination tournament is Mississippi Valley State at 10:00 a.m. Friday.
Should the Lady Jags win they will face SWAC powerhouse and favorite Alcorn State.
Mayumi Takeuchi led the Lady Jags in kills this season with a total of 251 followed by Maya Valerie with 198 and Stephanie Wright with 193.
Wright led the team with 643 kills next was Valerie with 640 and Takeuchi with 632.
The Lady Jags are hoping to end their 2001 season on a high note. It has been a disappointing season for the Lady Jags who saw themselves drop from 2nd to fourth place by season’s end.
