The semester is winding down and the holidays are swiftly approaching.
There are two things that I must make you aware of; or as my mom would say, “I wave some good news and some bad news.” For some reason, I would feel most comfortable hearing the bad news first, so here goes…
We all know that in situations of both positive and negative things happening, the bad will most often be remembered before the good. Specifically, high authorities, alumni, and older officials have brought to my attention their discomfort with our “renown chant” that was heard at the SU vs. LSU basketball game.
This chant has been around long before our time and will probably be here long after us; however it is our job to represent the university to the best of our ability at all times.
As far as the good news, our office received word that a recent HBCU poll revealed Southern University to have one of the top five student bodies in reference to school spirit/social activity. This proves that we know to be an everyday lifestyle is worthy of national recognition.
So although the semester is coming to an end with only one major SGA program remaining–A Christmas Extravaganza “A Night All But Silent”, Tuesday, December 4th at 7:30 PM in the Cotillion Ballroom, with guest performers of dancing, singing, music, and drama.
I encourage everyone to continue representing “O Dear Southern” to the fullest. Time has proven that this collegiate experience will only be what you make it.
I hope you all have a safe Christmas and a Happy New Year.
